Shoulder Pain

Shoulder exerciseThe shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in our body. Common shoulder pathologies include impingement, frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), dislocations, tendonitis, and rotator cuff tears. There is almost always something our physiotherapists can do to assist people with shoulder pain. Diagnosis via examination and investigations is very important.

Treatment may include manual therapy, soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, and sometimes manipulation of the surrounding thoracic spine (mid back) or dry needling for tightness. Specific exercise for the rotator cuff and shoulder blade muscles is also often required. Other devices such as EMG biofeedback, mirror feedback and taping can be used to assist with exercises.
